SUMMERKIDS STAFF

Jaimi Lu Harrison

Harrison worked for the DiMassa family and Summerkids for roughly 10 years. She quit after Roxie drowned and moved to Texas. Her attorney, Rob Bergsten of Hosp, Gilbert & Bergsten, said that Harrison told him she “lives in a double-wide” trailer. In fact, Harrison and her husband Charles purchased a sprawling, new-build house in a high-end development. Perhaps Harrison left that part out, or maybe Bergsten did. As Summerkids Assistant Director, Harrison said she was a “jack of all trades.” “I’ve been known to slack-line with the kids…I do all the medical…I’ve ridden to hospitals…and in a situation like this (Roxie’s drowning), I am fully trained and I responded.” Her response did not save Roxie, nor was it appropriately conducted, according to sworn deposition testimony. I personally witnessed Harrison prohibiting parents from stepping beyond a small, restricted area to help their tired children carry belongings up a hill at the end of the day. In fact, she loudly demanded in front of children and parents that I not do so for Roxie. Such rules and reasons therefore were never previously explained, nor did I think they were the least bit appropriate when there was no rationale for them whatsoever, including security reasons. In other words, all parents were prohibited from helping their children in any way until they essentially left the grounds. This fact would play a very significant role in the eventual unveiling of the coverup surrounding Roxie’s killing.
